Ravn Alaska Pilots/Staff-

By request, Ravn Alaska Virtual will be issuing Weekly/Biweekly NOTAMs to advise of updates and progress within the VA. Normally RAV (Ravn Alaska Virtual) would only update during major improvements, however we have noiced the need to update more frequently. Below is a list of recent updates:

1) SmartCars Pipep System - Recently, we have had major issues with the SmartCars system with regards to the CheckFlight system added. We have been in constant contact with the developers working on a resolve for the various issues. Thusfar, within the last 5 months since rollout of the checkflight program, tech support has failed to resolve the main issue keeping us from re-launhing the Smartcars 2.0 program, recently updated from 1.0. If SmartCars cannot resolve the issue by March 1, 2015, RAV will begin the phase-out process. RAV will keep pilots informed on this matter.

2) Kacars - Due to issues with #1 above, kAcars system has been moved into the primary pirep filing system with RAV. RAV is aware of an issue regarding the transition altitude callout playing immediately after takeoff. The issue has been reported and a fix is in the works. Pilots will be notified once this issue is corrected.

3) CheckFlight System- RAV is in the process of resolving an issue regarding practical checkflights showing as "not attempted" or "not completed" after successfully filing a pirep with the same flight number. RAV apologizes for delays in approving type ratings due to this issue. Due to the volume of pilots in our roster, it takes a large portion of time to go pilot-by-pilot and verify practical flight completion for each rating. We ask that if you see a pirep has been accepted and the associated type rating shows otherwise, to please email us with the contact us tab on the main site. They will be automatically forwarded to the COO where it can be verified and the type rating issued accordingly. RAV appreciates your patience while we resolve this issues.

4) Ravn Rotors - As described in various other posts, RAV will be beginning our brand new Ravn Rotors division. This division is designed to introduce the world of rotorcraft in the southwest Alaska region. The division will begin by introducing 2 Bell 206L Jetrangers for medical/tourism transport services. The helicopters will be based in our Juneau (PAJN) hub. The routes will include 10-15 routes in the region and will be open for suggestions on routes per request. Until RAV can evaulate this division's popularity, we will not be introducing substitution aircraft to replace the Bell 206L. Currently our Bell 206Ls are finishing the registration process and will be expected to enter service by March 1st, 2015. Details related to the type rating will be specified closer to the service start date.

5) Ravn Alaska Routes - RAV is in the process of updating the routes on a hub-by-hub basis. When you see routes disappear from hubs, please do not be alarmed. Our PAFA hub manager and COO are updating routes to better reflect the actual time tables for real-world RAVN. RAV apologizes for any inconviences this may cause. NOTE: It is not necessary to fly from your last destination. Although we strongly encourage that method to enhance realism, we know that when updating this schedule, that may not be the case available to all pilots. Please do not email RAV staff to say that you cannot fly anywhere becuase you are "Stuck" in a particular airport, as you are never truely stuck.
