THE SUPPLY SHIP ARCTIC EXPRESS HAS BEEN STRANDED IN PACK ICE FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS AND ATTEMPTS TO FREE HERSELF HAVE FAILED. FOSS MARITIME CO. HAS DISPATCHED AN ICE BREAKER TUG TO ASSIST IN FREEING THE ARTIC EXPRESS. THE SHIP CONTAINS NEEDED SUPPLIES DESTINED FOR THE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF KODIAK ISLAND. THESE SUPPLIES CONSTITUTE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE COMMUNITEES YEARLY SUPPLIES.

There is still no word on how long it will take to get to the ARCTIC EXPRESS and then how long it will take her to reach Kodiak Island.

Meanwhile…back at the ranch………

Meanwhile, ERA Virtual Airways has been contracted to provide delivery service to the various regions and airports thru-out Kodiak Is. There is presently a need for DC-3, Beech 1900D, 206, 208 and a DHC2 Beaver aircraft.

Era Staff and Planners are presently re-routing the needed aircraft and setting up schedules. So as to not interrupt normal flight ops, ERA admin staff and extra help employees will ferry the necessary assets to Kodiak Is.

It is not known at this time just what materials and supplies will be arriving. But, it is anticipated that there will be all manner of cargo and passengers to be transported.

It is anticipated that each flight will be filled to capacity so fuel planning is essential. Flights will be flown under real weather conditions and alternate airports are advised.

VATSIM ATC is being advised of the developing situation and it is hoped that ATC service will be available for some of the flights.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! THE ARCTIC EXKPRESS WAS FREED LATE LAST NIGHT AND WILL BE IN KODIAK LATER THIS EVENING. FLIGHT OPS TO DISPERSE THE MATERIALS WILL BEGIN TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT PST..OR 1600ZULU TIME.

FLIGHT OPS INFORMATION:

Flights flown in the DHC2 Beaver will depart PADQ from the waterway just west of Runway 36 and the fuel tanks. Spawn onto the hanger area and slew to the water.

Flights will be cargo outbound and passengers inbound on the return to PADQ, Kodiak. Be sure to fill your respective aircraft with the max capacity and adjust your fuel accordingly.

Flight routes will be at the pilot’s discursion. You are professionals, used to flying in IMC conditions, so plan accordingly.

We will use real world weather conditions.

The re-supply will run for one full week with awards being giving to those who participate. Additional bonuses will be given to those pilots based upon who carries the most cargo, passengers and flights.
