New Changes Coming to Era Virtual Airways Ranking System

Attention pilots-

Coming up in the next week, you will notice a change in the ranking system. Instead of having a "hours only" rating system, there will be a new checkflight system added. This system is designed to add a sense of realism to your flight career. Below is some information to help explain the new system. Please review this information so that we have a reduced number of emails coming in regarding the switch.

What is the CheckFlight System?

The new CheckFlight system is a custom designed system built exclusively for Era Virtual Airways. This new setup is designed to replace the old ranking system. Along with the current hour rankings, you will be required to pass a very generic checkride to be able to fly the requested aircraft. Without passing the checkride, no routes for that particular aircraft will be displayed. This helps the dedicated pilots improve not only their knowledge of the aircraft they fly but alsohelps us determine the types of aircraft our simmers prefer to use, for better selection of event aircraft.

How does it work?

The CheckFlight system will require you to meet both hours and checkride requirements for each aircraft intended to be flown. For example: Say you want to fly the Beechcraft 1900D...you will be required to get 30 hours of flight time in other aircraft as you would normally do today. Then you would request a checkflight in the B1900. The checkflight is composed of two parts, a Theoretical exam(a couple questions about the aircraft) and a Practical exam(the actual flight). Once you pass the Theoretical exam, you will unlock the Practical exam. You may retake the theoretical exam as many times as necessary to pass. They are not designed to require you to know EVERYTHING about the aircraft, but usually relate to loading, speeds, and general knowledge. All the information in the exam can be found in the POH which is provided with the exam. The practical exam will be comprised of two flights, varying in difficulty and length. If your pireps for those two flights are accepted, you may then submit your exams for review. Within 24hours you will receive approval/rejection notice. If you passed, then you will see all flights for that aircraft become unlocked for your use. Each checkflight requires a specific amount of your pilot cash(pilot pay earned for completing flights). If you fail the entire checkride you will be required to repay the exam fee to retake the exam. In short terms, if you pay for the exam, pass the theoretical exam and practical flights, and are approved to the aircraft, you will earn those routes.

Why is the System Changing Now?

In preparation of our Alaska Airlines division and rotorcraft divisions, we decided to implement this system to improve knowledge of the aircraft to help improve the flying experience.

Are There Any Exceptions to the CheckFlight System?

YES! For those pilots who are currently enrolled as activated pilots (not pending registration), with a fee designated at the program start, you may unlock up to 3 aircraft of your choice, providing you have the required hours to qualify you. However, we do encourage you to take the quizes in order to expand your knowledge of the aircraft. In addition, events will open the all aircraft to all participants. All pilots will be available to fly the aircraft listed for the event. However, If you fly an aircraft, not qualified for, that is not part of the event, your pireps for those flight will be rejected. It is designed and intended so that everyone can fly the event marked equipment.

When will this system take effect?

Scheduled active date will be Friday, July 18th at 11:59PM CDT (GMT-5)

We thank you for your time in discussing this new setup. If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact us ASAP. Thank you again!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Pilots-

You will now see that the CheckFlight Type Rating system has been activated as previously mentioned in emails. We have worked several months to get this program activated and now it is ready for use. Until you complete the individual type ratings, you will be restricted to the C-206. Please visit your profile and click the "Type Ratings" link in the middle of the page to use the new system. If you have any questions regarding this system, they may be directed to a board/staff member. We hope everyone enjoys the sense of realism this will add to the Virtual Airline..

Please allow up to 24hrs for submitted exams to be signed off by a staff member. There will be a massive amount of exams being sent in as there are 150+ pilots in the system so please bear with us until we get everyone caught up.
Thanks you!
